Airport Commission Member

Position Objectives:

• To serve as one of five (5) Winsted Municipal Airport Commission Members, an advisory commission to the City Council, representing the Winsted community. 
• Identify, discuss, and address issues and public policy affecting the residents, private businesses and public organizations of the City of Winsted relating to airport operations and development.
• Receive and consider public input and professional recommendations concerning actions and policies related to airport operations and development.
• Exercise all power provided to the Airport Commission by the City Council, State Statutes, and City ordinances in an open, respectful and lawful manner.

Time Commitment

Attendance at Airport Commission Meetings on a quarterly basis, unless noticed otherwise. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Consider and vote on various airport-related actions (e.g., motions, plans, and resolutions).
2. Consider the interests and needs of the residents, private businesses and public organization and the City throughout the public decision–making process.
3. Attend and prepare for all Airport Commission meetings and work sessions.
4. Direct constituents’ requests for information to City staff.
5. Approve airport programs, projects and make other recommendations.
6. Conduct business in compliance with City ordinance and State Statutes (e.g., Conflicts of Interest, Minnesota Government Data Practices Act)
7. Exercise other powers and responsibilities authorized through applicable laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Appointment by the Winsted City Council.
2. Must reside within the City of Winsted for at least 30 days prior to appointment.

Desirable Training and Experience:

Experience related to airport operations and development is beneficial; however, not required.
