Park Commission

The Park Commission serves as an advisory commission to the City Council providing for the review and recommendation of all activities and projects concerning the Winsted Park System, including:
  • Oversee of the activities of public and private agencies in Winsted with concern for their effects on the quality of the parks, trails, and environment;
  • Raise issues and concerns for staff and the City Council to consider regarding these activities;
  • Consider current and proposed plans and operations of municipal activities as they affect or concern parks, trails, the environment, and recreation activities;
  • Seek community opinion as appropriate on recommendations to improve plans and operations;
  • Monitor the condition of park property, trails, and community environmental conditions and practices and evaluate and recommend actions for improvement; and
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Council.


Want to attend a meeting?

The Park Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  On occasion, the Commission will meet in a Work Session, which typically occur on the same date and time in the Lewis Room at City Hall.

Members
The Commission maintains a membership of five (5) voting members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.  The City Administrator and one (1) Council Member also serve as ex-officio, non-voting members of the Commission.
