City of Winsted Website Policy

I.  Authority

This policy pertains to the City of Winsted (City) website.  In accordance with this policy, the City Administrator is authorized to oversee and maintain all aspects of the City’s website.  The City Administrator may delegate appropriate persons to oversee and maintain aspects of the City’s website, as appropriate.

 

II.  Purpose

The City of Winsted provides this website as a convenient and efficient way for the public to access information about the City’s agencies, programs, departments, services, and general information. 

 

III.  General Disclaimer

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information. However, due to the possibility of unauthorized modification of the data, transmission errors, HTML browser incompatibilities, human error or other aspects of electronic communication that are beyond the City's control, the City does not guarantee the accuracy of the information provided on its website and is not liable for reliance on this information. The City of Winsted links to external websites in an effort to offer useful reference material and information on community-related subjects. The materials provided on this site are intended for public use on computer systems located primarily within the City of Winsted, Minnesota, and for the benefit of visitors to the City. Any persons choosing to use the website or seeking access to information or materials on this system are agreeing to be subject to Minnesota law. Any dispute arising therefrom shall be decided under the laws and in the courts of Minnesota.

All City computer systems are subject to monitoring at all times to ensure proper functioning of the systems, to provide security for the computer system's operation and the information contained therein, to prevent unauthorized use, and to deter and investigate violations of law. The City of Winsted applies the same privacy to comments or other information submitted via a form on the web or e-mail that it would for a phone or in-person conversation. The City will not sell, rent or lease this information to third parties. All information collected is subject to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, which classifies certain information so that it is available to the public upon request.

 

VII.  Online Calendar and Events

The following items are considered when event or posting requests are received from outside organizations:

  • Event is open to the public.
  • Held at a City of Winsted facility.
  • Hosted by a non-profit/community organization that serves Winsted.
  • No posting of events that benefit individuals, families, or a specific group or business.
  • No religious or political events.
  • Space is limited, and City events take precedence.
  • Items will only be considered and/or added on a request basis.  City staff is not expected to solicit or spend time searching out events to post.
